Very important is a road loss of third ranked La Union (26-21) against fifth ranked Obras Basket (23-22) on Sunday night. Visiting La Union was defeated by Obras Basket in a tough game in Buenos Aires 91-99. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But La Union won third quarter 28-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Obras Basket made 29-of-33 charity shots (87.9 percent) during the game, while La Union only scored nine points from the stripe. La Union was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for international center Marcos Delia (209-92) who led the winners and scored 22 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American forward Dennis Horner (206-88, college: N.Carolina St.) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Forward Facundo Pinero (200-88) came up with 18 points and international power forward Pablo Orlietti (207-90) added 14 points respectively for La Union in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Obras Basket moved-up to fourth place. La Union at the other side keeps the third position with 21 games lost. Obras Basket will play against league's leader GECR Indalo in Comodoro R. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. La Union will play on the road against Lanus in Buenos Aires and hopes to get back on the winning track.
