Regular Season Round 24: PGE Turow - Slask Wroclaw 99-84

Very predictable result in Zgorzelec where ninth ranked PGE Turow (14-12) defeated 14th ranked Slask (6-20) 99-84. The game was mostly controlled by PGE Turow. Slask was better in second period 28-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. PGE Turow dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Slask's 28 and made 24-of-26 charity shots (92.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Slask 42-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Slask helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds. Australian-Trinidad and Tobago guard Daniel Dillon (193-86, college: Arizona) contributed with 20 points and 4 assists for the winners. Michal Jankowski (191-87) replied with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and naturalized Ukrainian Vitaliy Kovalenko (204-84) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Slask. Four PGE Turow and five Slask players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. PGE Turow have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place. Slask at the other side keeps the fourteenth position with 20 games lost. PGE Turow's next round opponent will be higher ranked Wilki Morskie (#7) in Szczecin and it may be quite challenging game. Slask will play on the road against MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#10) and hope to win that game.
