Regular Season Round 23: Zornotza - Clinicas Rincon 71-63

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Zornotza (9-14) beat 9th ranked Clinicas Rincon (8-14) in Amorebieta-Echano 71-63 on Sunday. Clinicas Rincon trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 24-20 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 63-71 at the end of the game. Zornotza dominated on the defensive end, holding Clinicas Rincon to just 7 points in third quarter. Congolese forward Charles Nkaloulou (199-94) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 6 rebounds. German center Enosch Wolf (216-90, college: Connecticut) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Serbian power forward Kenan Karahodzic (209-96) answered with 16 points and 9 rebounds and Brazilian guard Carlos Cobos (193-88) added 16 points and 5 assists in the effort for Clinicas Rincon. Four Clinicas Rincon players scored in double figures. Clinicas Rincon's coach Francisco Aurioles tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Zornotza moved-up to ninth place. Clinicas Rincon lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the tenth position with 14 games lost. Zornotza will face bottom-ranked Getafe (#14) in Madrid in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Clinicas Rincon will play on the road against Araberri (#3) in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hope to win that game.
