There was an upset when higher ranked Valsesia (16-10) was edged at home by ninth ranked Monsummano (14-12) 67-66 on Sunday. Valsesia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Giorgio Sgobba (202-92) saved the victory by scoring 20 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Andrea Maggiotto (194-88) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Monsummano players scored in double figures. Point guard Francesco Paolin (189-95) replied with 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Simone Tomasini (197-93) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Valsesia. Monsummano maintains ninth position in B with 14-12 record. Loser Valsesia dropped to the sixth place with ten games lost. Monsummano will face higher ranked Piombino (#5) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
