Regular Season Round 26: San Severo - Ortona 89-86

Sixth-ranked Ortona (16-10) was very close to win a game against third ranked San Severo (21-5) on Sunday. San Severo managed to secure only three-point victory 89-86. However their fans expected easier game. San Severo outrebounded Ortona 38-21 including 28 on the defensive glass. Power forward Andrea Quarisa (202-92) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and swingman Ivan Scarponi (196-86, agency: Players Group) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Even 18 points by naturalized American swingman Xavier Brown (195-91, agency: SPORTlab Agency) did not help to save the game for Ortona. Center Arcangelo Leo (203-81) added 18 points for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. San Severo moved-up to second place in B. Ortona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. San Severo will meet Valmontone (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Ortona will play against Pescara (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
