Very important is a road loss of third ranked Real Madrid (19-5) against eleventh ranked CB Canarias (11-13) on Sunday night. Visiting Real Madrid was defeated by CB Canarias in a tough game in Tenerife 84-93. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Real Madrid. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-84. CB Canarias made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The winners were led by Argentinian-Italian point guard Nicolas Richotti (183-86) who scored that evening 19 points and 4 assists and point guard Rodrigo San Miguel (186-85) supported him with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four CB Canarias players scored in double figures. Even 21 points and 5 assists by the former international point guard Sergio Rodriguez (191-86) did not help to save the game for Real Madrid. The former international Felipe Reyes (204-80) added 10 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CB Canarias moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Andorra and UCAM Murcia. Defending champion Real Madrid keeps the third position with five games lost. CB Canarias will meet Movil Estudiantes (#17) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Real Madrid will play against CAI Zaragoza (#14) and hope to secure a win.
