Tijuana Zonkeys defeated Pioneros Los Mochis 87-77 on Tuesday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pioneros Los Mochis. Strangely Pioneros Los Mochis outrebounded Tijuana Zonkeys 38-19 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international point guard Franco Harris (182-83, college: Boise St., agency: Pro Sports) who added 20 points and 4 assists during the contest. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Gordon Ball (203-90, college: Texas St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 4-4 record. Loser Pioneros Los Mochis keep the fifth place with three games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will again meet at home higher ranked Pioneros Los Mochis (#5) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pioneros Los Mochis will have a break next round.
