NBB top team - Flamengo (21-5) added another victory to their record. This time they beat thirteenth ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (7-19) 88-80. Sao Jose/Vinac was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 37-22 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Flamengo players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. The winners were led by the former international forward Olivinha Rodriguez (203-83) who scored that evening 22 points and 6 rebounds and the former international power forward Joao Paulo Batista (205-81, college: Gonzaga) supported him with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Even 25 points by Pedro Lima (191-87) did not help to save the game for Sao Jose/Vinac. American guard Scott Rodgers (191-87, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) added 15 points and 7 assists for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains first position with 21-5 record. Sao Jose/Vinac lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourteenth place with 19 games lost. Flamengo will play against Mogi (#5) in Mogi das Cruzes in the next round.
