Regular Season Round 28: Mogi - Macae 88-79

Very expected game in Mogi das Cruzes where 15th ranked Macae (5-21) was defeated by sixth ranked Mogi (17-8) 88-79 on Wednesday. Macae trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 28-23 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 79-88 at the end of the game. Mogi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Macae's 28. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and power forward Lucas Mariano (208-93) who added 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Mogi's coach Danilo Padovani used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side point guard Pedrinho Wellausen (183-95) responded with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists and power forward Anderson Mosso (205-82, college: Chipola JC) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mogi moved-up to fifth place. Macae lost sixth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 21 lost games. Mogi will face league's leader Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Macae will play on the road against Sao Jose/Vinac (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
