Regular Season Round 28: Minas - Rio Claro 77-72
Date: March 23, 2016
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Belo Horizonte where tenth ranked Minas (11-14) defeated 9th ranked Rio Claro (12-16) 77-72 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Rio Claro won third quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-90, college: Canisius) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and the former international power forward Shilton Santos (198-82) who added 12 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Four Minas players scored in double figures. At the losing side center Daniel Castellar (203-83) responded with 20 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) scored 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Rio Claro's coach Dede Barbosa let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Minas maintains tenth position with 11-14 record. Rio Claro lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 16 games lost. Minas will have a break next round.
