Ninth-ranked Viterbo (10-14) made lots of trouble for top-ranked La Spezia (24-0) on Wednesday. The visitors from La Spezia managed to secure only one-point victory 59-58. However their fans expected much easier game. Viterbo was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 18-16 charge of La Spezia, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 26 Viterbo turnovers. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who scored 8 points and 14 rebounds. Point guard Marherita Corradino (175-99) chipped in 13 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) who recorded a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and forward Anna Romagnoli (175-92) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains first position in A2 with 24-0 record. Viterbo at the other side keeps the ninth place with 14 games lost. La Spezia are looking forward to face Castellammare (#6) in Stabia in the next round where they are favorite. Viterbo will play on the road against Civitanova in Civitanova Marche and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
