Date: March 25, 2016
Everything went according to plan when fifth ranked Bologna (15-9) won against at home 13th ranked Ancona (4-20) 59-49 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Bologna. Ancona was better in fourth quarter 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Ancona to just 6 points in third and fourth quarters. Strangely Ancona outrebounded Bologna 34-21 including a 28-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was power forward Chiara Cadoni (182-94) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Lucia Morsiani (185-92) chipped in 15 points. Four Bologna players scored in double figures. Bologna's coach Matteo Lolli used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Francesca De Chellis (183-98) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds and Serbian Kristina Ostojic (172-95) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Bologna moved-up to fourth place in A2. Ancona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Bologna will face Irpino (#8) in Ariano Irpino in the next round. Ancona will play at home against the league's second-placed Ferrara (#2) and hope to win that game.
