Regular Season Round 25: Chalons-Reims - Cholet 86-83

A very interesting game took place in Reims. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 14th ranked Cholet Basket (9-16) to thirteenth ranked Chalons-Reims (11-14) 86-83 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-17. But Cholet Basket won second period 25-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Drew Gordon (205-90, college: N.Mexico) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Alex Young (198-89, college: IUPUI) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Murphy Holloway (201-90, college: Mississippi) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Italian-American forward Joe Trapani (203-88, college: Boston Coll.) added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Cholet Basket. Five Chalons-Reims and four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Cholet Basket's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Chalons-Reims moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with Antibes. Cholet Basket lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourteenth position with 16 games lost. Chalons-Reims' next round opponent will be higher ranked JSF Nanterre (#7) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cholet Basket will play against Le Mans (#5) and hope to win that game.
