Very important is a home loss of third ranked Brasilia (18-9) against ninth ranked Rio Claro (13-15) on Friday night. Host Brasilia was edged by Rio Claro in a tough game in Brasilia 66-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Brasilia. Brasilia was ahead by 13 points after three quarters before a 26-11 charge of Rio Claro, which allowed them to win the game. Point guard Eric Romualdo (185-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Guilherme Pereira (190-91) contributed with 15 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Four Rio Claro players scored in double figures. Rio Claro's coach Dede Barbosa allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) answered with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and center Ronald Reis (211-91) added 14 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Brasilia. Rio Claro maintains ninth place with 13-15 record. Defending champion Brasilia keeps the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Mogi and B.Cearense. Rio Claro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Brasilia will play on the road against Minas in Belo Horizonte and hopes to get back on the winning track.
