No shocking result in a game when fourth ranked Akita Happinets (28-15) crushed on the road 11th ranked Saitama Broncos (4-39) 88-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-65. Akita Happinets outrebounded Saitama Broncos 37-26 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a very good performance for American forward Ray Turner (206-90, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Canadian center Scott Morrison (213-86, college: Portland St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) answered with 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and American power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Saitama Broncos. Akita Happinets maintains fourth place with 28-15 record. Saitama Broncos lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 39 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against Akita Happinets (#4) and hope to win that game.
