Regular Season Round 36: Kataja Basket - Kauhajoki 98-63

Date: March 26, 2016
The game between Top Four teams took place in Joensuu. First ranked host Joensuun Kataja (29-7) smashed second-best Kauhajoen Karhu (21-15) 98-63. The game without a history. Joensuun Kataja led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Joensuun Kataja shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 55.2 percentage. Joensuun Kataja brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. The winners were led by the former international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) who scored that evening 21 points and 9 assists (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and American swingman Trevis Simpson (193-91, college: NC-Greensboro, agency: Three Eye Sports) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by American center Lance Williams (206-80, college: De Paul, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Kauhajoen Karhu. International Mikko Koivisto (194-87, college: NC-Greensboro) added 11 points and 6 assists. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Joensuun Kataja have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 29-7 record. Kauhajoen Karhu at the other side keeps the second place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Kouvot.
