Regular Season Round 18: Al Riyadi - Byblos 89-64

Pepsi LBL top team - Al Riyadi (14-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Byblos (8-8) in Beirut 89-64. It looked good early as Byblos took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Al Riyadi had a 25-11 second period charge getting the lead and Byblos were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-89. Al Riyadi made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Byblos turnovers. The best player for the winners was American center Chris Daniels (212-84, college: Texas A&M-CC) who scored 16 points. The other American import Aaron Harper (203-81, college: Mississippi) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Ali Kanaan (207-85, college: Mass.-Lowell) who recorded a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and the former international forward Bassel Bawji (203-89, college: Tulsa) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Al Riyadi have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 14-2 record. Byblos at the other side keep the sixth place with eight games lost.
