Regular Season Round 25: ASVEL - Nancy 66-62

Very expected game when 15th ranked Sluc Nancy (8-17) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (17-8) 66-62 on Saturday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 23-12 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. American center Darryl Watkins (211-84, college: Syracuse, agency: Inception Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Australian center David Andersen (213-80) chipped in 8 points and 13 rebounds. At the losing side the former international Florent Pietrus (202-81) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and the former international guard Steed Tchicamboud (193-81, agency: Comsport) scored 17 points. Four Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Pau-Lacq-Orthez. Sluc Nancy lost their fourth game in a row. They dropped to the sixteenth position with 17 games lost. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket will face Olympique Antibes (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sluc Nancy will play against Paris-Levallois (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
