Regular Season Round 28: SAP Vaucluse - Chartres 83-81

A very interesting game took place in Sorgues. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 9th ranked UB Chartres (14-15) to eleventh ranked SAP Vaucluse (14-14) 83-81 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of UB Chartres. UB Chartres was ahead by 16 points after three quarters before a 27-9 charge of SAP Vaucluse, which allowed them to win the game. 25 personal fouls committed by UB Chartres helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a very good performance for Lithuanian forward Zygimantas Jonusas (200-82) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 6 rebounds. Mali power forward Cheick Soumaoro (204-90) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four SAP Vaucluse players scored in double figures. Bahamas forward Bennet Davis (204-84, college: Northeastern, agency: Inception Sports) replied with 20 points and 6 rebounds and American point guard Benjamin Smith (178-87, college: Jacksonville, agency: Comsport) added 14 points and 9 assists in the effort for UB Chartres. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. SAP Vaucluse have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Angers BC and Quimper. UB Chartres at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 15 games lost. SAP Vaucluse's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Saint Vallier on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. UB Chartres will play against JSA Bordeaux (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
