Regular Season Round 29: L.Sorocaba - Mogi 82-91

Date: March 27, 2016
There was no surprise in Sorocabana where 11th ranked Liga Sorocaba (8-19) was defeated by fifth ranked Mogi (18-9) 91-82 on Sunday. Liga Sorocaba trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 31-29 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 82-91 at the end of the game. Mogi made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Liga Sorocaba was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international center Paulo Prestes (211-88) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 20 points and 4 steals. Guard Arlindo Neto (187-86) produced 27 points and 4 assists and center Fabricio Melo (213-90, college: Syracuse) added 14 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Mogi moved-up to third place, which they share with Brasilia and B.Cearense. Liga Sorocaba lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 19 games lost. Mogi will face Sao Jose/Vinac (#14) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Liga Sorocaba will play against Paulistano and hope to win that game.
