Everything went according to plan in Madrid where ninth ranked CB Canarias (12-13) beat 17th ranked Movil Estudiantes (6-19) 84-80. Movil Estudiantes was ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 45-39 second half run of CB Canarias. It was a very good performance for American forward Tim Abromaitis (203-89, college: Notre Dame) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Davin White (186-81, college: CS Northridge) contributed with 16 points for the winners. The former international forward Nacho Martin (203-83) answered with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Laprovittola (193-90) added 17 points and 6 assists in the effort for Movil Estudiantes. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. The victory was the third consecutive win for CB Canarias. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with UCAM Murcia and Dominion BB. Movil Estudiantes at the other side keeps the seventeenth position with 19 games lost. CB Canarias' next round opponent will be higher ranked Laboral Kutxa (#4) in Vitoria and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Movil Estudiantes will play on the road against CAI Zaragoza (#15) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
