Very expected game when 11th ranked Blancos de Rueda (8-16) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked Meridiano Alicante (14-10) 93-69 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Blancos de Rueda managed to win fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Meridiano Alicante made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Eduardo Guillen (201-88, agency: Interperformances) who scored 17 points. Forward Jon Aramburu (204-92, agency: Duran International) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Aramburu is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Meridiano Alicante players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward David Ortega (199-84) who recorded 21 points and power forward Daniel Astilleros (196-95) added 11 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Meridiano Alicante have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Granada and Avila. Blancos de Rueda lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. They share it with El Olivar and Cambados. Meridiano Alicante will meet CB Granada (#5) on the road in the next round. Blancos de Rueda will play against CB Tarragona 2017 (#7) and hope to secure a win.
