Regular Season Round 10: Mazatlan - Tijuana 81-97

Leading Lobos UAD Mazatlan (7-4) recorded its fourth loss at the home court. Hosts were defeated by fifth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (6-5) 97-81. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Lobos UAD Mazatlan. Tijuana Zonkeys made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. American guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) notched 40 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds to lead the effort and Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) supported him with 23 points. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 23 points and 5 rebounds by American swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) did not help to save the game for Lobos UAD Mazatlan. His fellow American import power forward Kourtney Roberson (206-90, college: Texas A&M) added 16 points and 13 rebounds for lost side. Four Lobos UAD Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains fifth position with 6-5 record. Lobos UAD Mazatlan at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play at home against Fuerza Guinda Nogales and hopes to get back on the winning track.
