The biggest surprise of round 2 was guest Spirou Charleroi's (#4) road victory over Limburg United (#5) 80-68 on Wednesday evening. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. Strangely Limburg United outrebounded Spirou Charleroi 39-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Jimmy Baron (191-86, college: Rhode Island) who scored 24 points. Point guard Billy Baron (188-90, college: Canisius, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Scott Thomas (198-89, college: Bowling Green, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) produced 7 points and 7 rebounds and forward Stanton Kidd (203-92, college: Colorado St.) added 12 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Spirou Charleroi are looking forward to face Okapi Aalstar (#3) at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Limburg United will play against Oostende and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
