Regular Season Round 21: Villeneuve - Landes 72-64

Date: March 30, 2016
Rather predictable result when third ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (15-5) defeated at home 6th ranked Basket Landes (13-8) 72-64 on Wednesday. The best player for the winners was American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) who scored 7 points and 11 rebounds. The former international forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85, agency: Comsport) chipped in 11 points. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach Frederic Dusart used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Latvian forward Gunta Basko-Melnbarde (181-80, college: Siena, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who recorded 16 points and American-Dominican Carmen Guzman (172-85, college: UAB, agency: Merit Management Group) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively. Villeneuve D'Ascq maintains third place with 15-5 record having five points less than leader Lattes Montp. Loser Basket Landes keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Villeneuve D'Ascq will meet at home league's second-placed Bourges in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Basket Landes will play against Angers (#12) and hope to secure a win.
