Very significant was Al Moutahed's (#3) 83-72 road victory against Hoops Club. The game was mostly controlled by Al Moutahed. Hoops Club was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 charity shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Al Moutahed outrebounded Hoops Club 39-24 including 16 on the offensive glass. American guard Ramel Curry (191-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) nailed 22 points for the winning side and Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers) accounted for 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Al Moutahed players scored in double figures. The former international swingman Antwain Barbour (196-82, college: Kentucky, agency: Three Eye Sports) came up with 29 points and 4 steals and American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Hoops Club in the defeat. Al Moutahed will play against Al Riyadi in Beirut in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hoops Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Beirut to the arena Sagesse.
