The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Marinos (21-12) in Puerto La Cruz on Thursday night. Hosts were defeated by Cocodrilos (19-14) 93-83. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-83. Cocodrilos looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Wendell McKines (198-88, college: N.Mexico St.) who helped to win the game recording 22 points. The other American import forward Tony Mitchell (203-92, college: N.Texas) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. International forward Leon Rodgers (201-80, college: N.Illinois) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and Spanish-Uruguayan guard Gustavo Barrera (194-85) added 17 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Marinos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cocodrilos maintains first position with 19-14 record which they share with defeated Marinos. Defending champion Marinos still keep top place with 12 games lost.
