Regular Season Round 5: Sport R. - Ginastico 66-74

An interesting game for Ginastico (3-3) which played road game in against 4th placed Sport R. (1-5). Second ranked Ginastico managed to get a 8-point victory 74-66. Ginastico outrebounded Sport R. 44-20 including a 29-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Fabricio Russo (196-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Alef Alves (185-95) chipped in 13 points. Forward Rinaldo Mafra (201-86, college: Jacksonville St.) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and guard Luis Fernando Lima (193-93) scored 11 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ginastico maintains second place with 3-3 record having just three points less than leader Campo Mourao. Sport R. at the other side stay at the bottom position with five games lost. Ginastico will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Sport R. will play on the road against Vasco Da G. (#3) in Rio de Janeiro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
