Second Stage Round 1: Al Riyadi - Sagesse 98-84

Al Riyadi defeated Sagesse in Beirut 98-84. The game was mostly controlled by Al Riyadi. Sagesse managed to win second period 25-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Al Riyadi looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The former international swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and American guard Jahmar Young (196-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) chipped in 19 points and 4 assists. At the losing side American guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) responded with 39 points (!!!) and forward Hayk Gyokchyan (203-90, college: Franklin & Marshall) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sagesse will play next round against strong Hoops Club trying to get back on the winning streak. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut - Hoops Club. Al Riyadi will try to continue on its current victory against Al Moutahed in Tripoli.
