Regular Season Round 26: Start Lublin - Trefl Sopot 69-70

A very interesting game took place in Lublin. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 17th ranked MKS Start (4-24) to sixteenth ranked Trefl (6-22) 70-69 on Friday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-14. But MKS Start won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Trefl made 16-of-19 charity shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Anthony Ireland (175-91, college: Loyola Mary) who scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. Croatian Josip Bilinovac (191-90) chipped in 19 points. Trefl's coach Zoran Martic allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Power forward Marcin Salamonik (202-83) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and American guard Nick Kellogg (190-91, college: Ohio) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Trefl moved-up to fifteenth place, which they share with Siarka. MKS Start at the other side stay dead last with 24 lost games. Trefl's next round opponent will be higher ranked Anwil (#4) in Wloclawek and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. MKS Start will play on the road against AZS Polfarmex (#6) in Kutno and hope to win that game.
