Regular Season Round 26: PGE Turow - Polpharma 74-75

A very close game took place in Zgorzelec between Polpharma and PGE Turow. Thirteenth ranked Polpharma (9-18) got a very close victory on the road over higher ranked PGE Turow (14-14). Polpharma managed to escape with a 1-point win 75-74 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the home team. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-19. But PGE Turow won second period 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American swingman Michael Hicks (193-83, college: Central Mo., agency: Court Side) notched 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Lukasz Diduszko (196-86) supported him with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Even a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds by the former international Mateusz Kostrzewski (200-89) did not help to save the game for PGE Turow. American center Kirk Archibeque (205-84, college: Fort Lewis) added 11 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. Five PGE Turow players scored in double figures. Polpharma maintains thirteenth position with 9-18 record. Loser PGE Turow keeps the eighth place with 14 games lost. Polpharma will meet at home higher ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (#11) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. PGE Turow will play against Energa Czarni in Slupsk and hope to secure a win.
