Regular Season Round 13: Guaymas - Mazatlan 78-75

There was a change at the CIBACOPA leadership position after last games. Round 13 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Lobos UAD Mazatlan (9-5). They were edged by fourth ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (8-4) 78-75 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lobos UAD Mazatlan. 24 personal fouls committed by Lobos UAD Mazatlan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Justin Bocot (193-88, college: S.Illinois) stepped up and scored 28 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Raymont McElroy (190-89, college: W.Virg.Wesl.) chipped in 19 points. Four Ostioneros de Guaymas players scored in double figures. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) responded with 34 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) and guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) scored 13 points and 4 assists. Ostioneros de Guaymas maintains fourth place with 8-4 record. Lobos UAD Mazatlan at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Guasave. Lobos UAD Mazatlan will play next round against Fuerza Guinda Nogales trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Ostioneros de Guaymas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
