There was no surprise when 12th ranked Blancos de Rueda (8-17) was crushed on the road by seventh ranked CB Tarragona 2017 (14-11) 87-57 on Saturday. The game without a history. CB Tarragona 2017 led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. CB Tarragona 2017 dominated on the defensive end, holding Blancos de Rueda to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Blancos de Rueda 45-31 including a 32-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Blancos de Rueda was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Center Ferran Torres (201-88) fired 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Point guard Diego Gallardo (192-96) chipped in 20 points. Four CB Tarragona 2017 players scored in double figures. Point guard Arturo Fernandez (182-90) produced 13 points and 5 rebounds and British forward Rowell Graham (197-94) added 9 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. CB Tarragona 2017 moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Granada and Avila. Blancos de Rueda lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. CB Tarragona 2017 will face CB Granada (#5) at home in the next round. Blancos de Rueda will play against Getafe (#14) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
