Regular Season Round 24: Sokhumi - MIA Academy 83-70

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Tbilisi: Sokhumi (#3) and MIA (#8). Sokhumi (14-10) won against visiting MIA (5-19) 83-70. The game was mostly controlled by Sokhumi. MIA managed to win third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded MIA 50-34 including 20 on the offensive glass. Sokhumi looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of international Levan Patsatsia (198-88, college: Troy) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists and American point guard Phillip Miller (185-91, college: Wiley) who added 29 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Chris Pelcher (208-91, college: New Hampshire) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Merab Bokolishvili (196-92) scored 18 points and 7 assists. Four MIA players scored in double figures. Sokhumi maintains third position with 14-10 record having just two points less than leader Batumi, which they share with Dinamo Tbilisi. Defending champion MIA stay at the bottom place with 19 games lost. Sokhumi will meet league's second-placed Kutaisi on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. MIA's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tbilisi to the arena Dinamo Tbilisi.
