Semi-Finals Game 2: H-Sirenos - Utena 51-42

H-Sirenos outlasted visiting Utena to force the third game in the semifinal series. It looked good early as Utena took a 10-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 9 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Utena to just 2 points in third quarter. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 30 Utena turnovers. Strangely Utena outrebounded Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas 44-28 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international point guard Santa Okockyte (175-92) notched 8 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Jolanta Marmiene (181-79) supported her with 10 points and 5 steals. Even 8 points and 12 rebounds by the former international power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) did not help to save the game for Utena. Forward Ieva Simkute (191-89) added 11 points for the guests.
