Regular Season Round 13: Tijuana - Hermosillo 87-90

A very interesting game took place in Tijuana. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 5th ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (6-8) to third ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (9-3) 90-87 on Saturday evening. Rayos de Hermosillo made 19-of-23 charity shots (82.6 percent) during the game. The game was also dominated by American players. Worth to mention a great performance of swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Paul Butorac (208-83, college: E.Washington) contributed with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and forward James Penny (198-76, college: TCU) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Tijuana Zonkeys. Five Rayos de Hermosillo and four Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Guasave. Tijuana Zonkeys lost third consecutive game. Defending champion keep the fifth place with eight games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo's next round opponent will be league's leader Frayles de Guasave at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tijuana Zonkeys will play against Caballeros de Culiacan (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
