Very expected game when 17th ranked SPO Rouen (5-22) was smashed on the road by eighth ranked Chalon/Saor (16-10) 108-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Chalon/Saor. SPO Rouen was better in fourth quarter 17-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Chalon/Saor dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to SPO Rouen's 34. They outrebounded SPO Rouen 37-22 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Chalon/Saor looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. It was a good game for American forward Justin Brownlee (197-88, college: St.John's) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Jeremy Hazell (191-86, college: Seton Hall) contributed with 19 points and 5 assists for the winners. Brownlee is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American Ronald Lewis (193-84, college: Ohio St., agency: Pensack Sports) answered with 18 points and 6 assists and Guerschon Yabusele (201-95, agency: Comsport) added 18 points in the effort for SPO Rouen. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Chalon/Saor maintains eighth place with 16-10 record. SPO Rouen lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 22 games lost. Chalon/Saor will face higher ranked JSF Nanterre (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. SPO Rouen will play against Chalons-Reims (#13) and hope to win that game.
