Very expected game when 9th ranked Jelgava (9-23) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Jurmala (18-15) 88-83 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 25-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Jurmala outrebounded Jelgava 42-23 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jelgava was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Edgars Jeromanovs (186-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 20 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Edmunds Elksnis (187-90) helped adding 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Jurmala players scored in double figures. Jurmala's coach Arnis Vecvagars used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side Lithuanian point guard Augustas Suliauskas (180-95) responded with 22 points and Lithuanian forward Augustinas Jankaitis (205-94) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jurmala maintains fourth place with 18-15 record. Loser Jelgava keeps the ninth position with 23 games lost. Jurmala will face Jekabpils (#5) on the road in the next round. Jelgava will play against the league's second-placed Ventspils (#2) and hope to win that game.
