Regular Season Round 26: Maccabi T-A - Maccabi Haifa 67-59

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tel-Aviv. Second ranked Maccabi T-A faced one of their biggest challengers Maccabi Haifa. Host Maccabi T-A (18-8) defeated guests from Haifa (15-11) 67-59. Maccabi T-A looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Maccabi Haifa's players. 26 personal fouls committed by Maccabi Haifa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was Itay Segev (204-95) who scored 6 points and 9 rebounds. International point guard Gal Mekel (190-88, college: Wichita St., agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 9 points and 7 assists. Maccabi T-A's coach Zan Tabak used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Reginald Buckner (206-91, college: Mississippi, agency: CGL Sports) produced 13 points and 8 rebounds and Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) added 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Maccabi T-A maintains second position with 18-8 record having just two points less than leader Hapoel J-M. Maccabi Haifa at the other side keeps the third place with 11 games lost. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Bnei Hasharon (#4) in Hod Hasharon in the next round. Maccabi Haifa will play at home against Maccabi Ashdod and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
