Regular Season Round 27: Catanzaro - Maddaloni 81-78

Not a big story in a game when 13th ranked Maddaloni (7-20) was edged on the road by ninth ranked Catanzaro (15-11) 81-78 on Sunday. However just three-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Catanzaro made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Maddaloni was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for power forward Giacomo Sereni (202-84) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Gianluca Carpanzano (188-95) helped adding 24 points and 7 rebounds. Catanzaro's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was naturalized Argentinian Juan Manuel Caceres (199-84, agency: Interperformances) with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Salvatore Desiato (180-82) scored 19 points. Catanzaro moved-up to eighth place in B. Loser Maddaloni keeps the thirteenth position with 20 games lost. Catanzaro will face higher ranked Palestrina (#3) in Roma in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maddaloni will play at home against the league's leader Roma E-basket (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
