Regular Season Round 26: Anwil - Stelmet ZG 65-62

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Stelmet (22-4) in Wloclawek on Sunday night. Visitors were edged by fourth ranked Anwil (21-6) 65-62. Stelmet was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 22-17 charge of Anwil, which allowed them to win the game. Czech swingman David Jelinek (196-90) orchestrated the victory by scoring 11 points and 8 rebounds. The former international point guard Robert Skibniewski (182-83) contributed with 15 points and 4 assists for the winners. Anwil's coach Igor Milicic used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Romanian Vlad Moldoveanu (206-88, college: American, agency: Beo Basket) replied with 13 points and 6 rebounds and international swingman Mateusz Ponitka (196-93) added 9 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Stelmet. Anwil moved-up to third place, which they share with Rosa Radom. Defending champion Stelmet still keeps top position with four games lost. Anwil is looking forward to face Trefl (#15) in Sopot in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Stelmet will play on the road against Asseco (#9) in Gdynia and is hoping to win this game.
