Regular Season Round 25: Marghera - Costa Masnaga 75-57

Everything could happen in Venezia at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Marghera and 9th ranked Costa Masnaga had identical 11-13 record. This time Marghera used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Masnaga 75-57 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Marghera. Costa Masnaga was better in fourth quarter 17-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Marghera dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Costa Masnaga's 32. Marghera forced 20 Costa Masnaga turnovers. Costa Masnaga was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for guard Erika Striulli (170-90) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Forward Carla Fabris (185-86) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Marghera's coach Francesco Iurlaro used entire bench saving starting five for next games. Swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Slovenian guard Katarina Ristic (170-84, agency: Two Points) added 15 points in the effort for Costa Masnaga. Marghera (12-13) moved-up to seventh place in A2. Costa Masnaga at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Marghera will face Pordenone (#8) on the road in the next round. Costa Masnaga will play against Milano and hope to win that game.
