Second Stage Round 2: Moutahed - Al Riyadi 54-76

An exciting game was played in Tripoli. Al Riyadi faced Al Moutahed. Guests from Beirut (16-2) smashed host Al Moutahed (10-8) 76-54. The game was mostly controlled by Al Riyadi. Al Moutahed managed to win third quarter 17-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Al Moutahed 49-35 including a 40-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The former international forward Ali Haidar (201-90, college: Michigan Tech) had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) chipped in 20 points during the contest. American guard Michael Taylor (186-86, college: Iowa St.) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and Ivorian-French power forward Herve Lamizana (208-81, college: Rutgers) scored 5 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Al Riyadi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Beirut Hoops Club.
