Leader Olympiacos delivered the twenty fourth victory. This time they beat 10th ranked Apollon Patras (9-16) 77-72. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Apollon Patras won third quarter 28-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Apollon Patras was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 9 assists. Liberian-American power forward Othello Hunter (203-86, college: Ohio St., agency: David Lee services) contributed with 9 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Olympiacos' coach Giannis Sfairopoulos allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American point guard Kevin Dillard (183-89, college: Dayton) answered with 16 points and the other American import forward Tony Meier (204-90, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) added 15 points in the effort for Apollon Patras. Five Apollon Patras players scored in double figures. The victory was the twenty third consecutive win for Olympiacos. Defending champion maintains first place with 24-1 record, which they share with Panathinaikos. Apollon Patras lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Olympiacos will play against AGOR (#8) in Rethymno in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Apollon Patras will play on the road against Aiolos Trikallon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
