Regular Season Round 41: Guaros - Marinos 91-81

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Marinos (21-13) in Barquisimeto on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Guaros (19-11) 91-81. The game was mostly controlled by Guaros. Marinos managed to win fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guaros dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Marinos' 30 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. American guard Damien Wilkins (198-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) stepped up and scored 28 points and 4 assists (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) for the winners and his fellow American import guard Tyshawn Taylor (191-90, college: Kansas) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 19 points and international forward Leon Rodgers (201-80, college: N.Illinois) scored 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Marinos players scored in double figures. Marinos' coach Omar Gonzalez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains second place with 19-11 record behind leader Marinos. Defending champion Marinos still keep top position with 13 games lost. They share it with Bucaneros. Guaros are again looking forward to face league's leader Marinos in Puerto La Cruz in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marinos will have a break next round.
