Regular Season Round 42: Guaros - Marinos 103-96

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Guaros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Guaros defeated top-ranked Marinos in Barquisimeto 103-96. 30 personal fouls committed by Marinos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Damien Wilkins (198-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 29 points and 6 rebounds. International power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Gerald Fitch (191-82, college: Kentucky) who recorded 27 points and American-Georgian point guard Corey Fisher (186-88, college: Villanova, agency: Octagon Europe) added 22 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Marinos' coach Omar Gonzalez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Guaros have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. which they share with defeated Marinos. Marinos lost fourth consecutive game. Defending champion still keep top place with 15 games lost. They share the position with Cocodrilos and Bucaneros. Marinos will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Guaros will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Gigantes in Puerto Ordaz.
