Regular Season Round 16: Culiacan - Hermosillo 76-78

The most exciting game of round 16 in the CIBACOPA took place in Culiacan. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 5th ranked Caballeros de Culiacan (7-6) to first ranked Rayos de Hermosillo (11-4) 78-76 on Friday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Caballeros de Culiacan. Rayos de Hermosillo made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Caballeros de Culiacan 37-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. American swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The other American import forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American power forward Benjamin Puckett (205-83, college: Clayton St.) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and Trinidad and Tobago-American point guard Ian Young (191-81, college: Auburn, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points respectively for lost side. Four Caballeros de Culiacan players scored in double figures. Rayos de Hermosillo maintains first position with 11-4 record, which they share with Guasave. Caballeros de Culiacan at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. Rayos de Hermosillo will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Caballeros de Culiacan will play again at home against the league's leader Rayos de Hermosillo (#1) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
