Regular Season Round 29: Planasa NV - Coruna 79-76

A very interesting game took place in Pamplona. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Leyma Basquet (16-13) to fifteenth ranked Planasa NV (10-19) 79-76 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leyma Basquet. It looked good early as Leyma Basquet took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Planasa NV had a 24-20 second period charge getting the lead and Leyma Basquet was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-79. Russian swingman Yaroslav Korolev (210-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) answered with 21 points and 5 assists and Lithuanian center Gediminas Zyle (210-88, agency: Octagon Europe) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Leyma Basquet. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Planasa NV moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Prat. Leyma Basquet at the other side keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Planasa NV's next round opponent will be higher ranked Leche Rio Breogan (#6) in Lugo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leyma Basquet will play at home against Lleida Basquet and hope to win that game.
