Rather predictable result in Perth where tenth ranked Stirling S. (4-2) defeated bottom-ranked Suns (0-6) 137-119 on Friday. Stirling S. dominated down low during the game scoring 82 of its points in the paint compared to Suns' 50. They outrebounded Suns 53-38 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Stirling S. looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Suns were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Kyle Lindbergh (201-91, college: Dordt, agency: Warren Sports International) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 14 rebounds and 9 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners and the former international forward Cody Ellis (203-90, college: St.Louis) chipped in 28 points and 9 rebounds. Lindbergh is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Timothy Squire responded with 30 points and 4 assists and swingman Jarrad Prior (192-87) scored 17 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Stirling S. moved-up to fourth place in League. Loser Suns still closes the standings with six games lost. Stirling S. will face Redbacks (#11) in Northbridge in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Suns will play on the road against the league's second-placed Giants in Kalgoorlie and look forward to get finally their first victory.
