Regular Season Round 4: Joondalup W. - Perth R. 68-47

There was an upset in Joondalup where much higher ranked Redbacks (3-1) were crushed by sixth ranked Wanneroo (2-1) 68-47 on Friday. Wanneroo dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Redbacks' 34. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Klara Wischer (185-91, college: San Diego) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Shani Amos (170-91) who added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Four Wanneroo players scored in double figures. At the losing side guard Rebecca Mercer (175-86, college: Montana St.) responded with 13 points and 6 assists and forward Ashley Gilmore (180-88) scored 8 points and 9 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wanneroo moved-up to fifth place in League. Loser Redbacks dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. Wanneroo will face league's second-placed Hawks in Floreat in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Redbacks will play on the road against Senators in Leederville and hope to win that game.
